m83 – new map 04/09/2011

M83 is one of my favorite bands/guy alone pretending to be a band, and they’re about to release their first album since 2008. I’ve come to terms with the fact that they’ll never do an album as epic as 2005’s Before the Dawn Heals Us, but I’m hoping this new one is at least better than the last one which was an electro pop love fest for clichéd afternoons in the sun.

What I’ve heard so far from the upcoming 22 track/2 cd album « Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming » has sounded either epic or really poppy. This song seemed like the best mix of the two, and it contains a lot of the elements that made me love M83 to begin with. Also worth checking out is the officially released track, Midnight City (download), which is a lot more dancey and probably more representative of what the album will sound like.
